In a proud moment for local sports, the Kanchibiya Community Karate Team has officially been registered with the National Shotokan Karate-do Federation through the Community Sports Fund. This milestone marks a new chapter for the team, giving them recognition on the National stage and opening doors to greater opportunities.
The achievement has sparked excitement across Kanchibiya, with the Town Council now encouraging other community-based sports groups to follow suit by registering as official clubs with the local authority.
By registering, clubs will:
• Gain eligibility to participate in local community tournaments.
• Receive invitations to national competitions, showcasing their talent beyond Kanchibiya.
• Access sports equipment and attire to support training and performance.
• Secure formal recognition with their respective federations, strengthening their credibility.
• Building a Sporting Culture
Kanchibiya Town Council community development officer Mr Joseph Lekani Nkhazi emphasized that this initiative is not just about karate, but about building a vibrant sporting culture in Kanchibiya. From football and netball to athletics and martial arts, every club that registers will contribute to a stronger, more united community.
The registration of the karate team is seen as a shining example of what can be achieved when local talent is nurtured and supported. It also demonstrates how the Community Sports Fund can transform grassroots efforts into internationally recognized achievements.
The Council secretary Mr Zulu Joseph is also urging all community sports groups to seize this opportunity. By formalizing their status, they can unlock benefits that will help athletes grow, inspire young people, and put Kanchibiya on the map as a hub of sporting excellence.
