About ZDSP

The Zambia Devolution Support Programme (ZDSP), funded by the Government of Zambia and the World Bank, is strengthening local governance and service delivery across the country. Through fiscal reforms and performance-based capital grants, the Programme empowers local authorities to plan, manage, and deliver services more effectively.

In Kanchibiya District, the ZDSP is driving real development through three key projects: the Construction of first ever Kanchibiya skills centre at Kasongo in Mumbubu ward. These initiatives are enhancing local infrastructure, improving community services, and supporting Kanchibiya Town Council’s commitment to transparent and responsive governance.

The program is being executed by the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, with assistance from the World Bank. Eligible Councils are awarded capital grants, including a basic grant of $200,000 and performance based grants up to $500,000.

PROJECT-1

Construction of Skills Centre Phase one (1) in Mumbubu Ward - 2025

The skills centre will focus on livelihood, social, and technical abilities, including leadership, communication, problem-solving, financial litracy, digital skills, and specific trades (tailoring, catering, carpentry), all aiming to empower vulnerable people with self-reliance and improve community quality of life through participation and sustainable solutions. Construction of a Truck Parking Bay at Mpepo in Chambeshi Ward

The construction of a Truck Parking Bay at Mpepo is a strategic project for Kanchibiya Town Council. It addresses the logistical needs of a major transport route, supports the council's fiscal sustainability, and contributes to the safety and well-being of the local community in Chambeshi ward.

Supply, Delivery and Installation of 30 Street Lights

The Kanchibiya Town Council has prioritized the installation of street lights as a key project to enhance safety, improve the business environment, and "brighten our town," aligning with the council's development goals . The Supply, Delivery and Installation of 30 Street Lights is a strategic investment to address public safety concerns and promote economic activity after dark.

Construction of an Ablution Block

The construction of an ablution block is a vital infrastructure project that directly addresses the public health and sanitation needs of the community. For a district like Kanchibiya, which is actively pursuing development through various community projects, investing in sanitation facilities is a fundamental step toward improving the quality of life for its residents.
